It is Football Season all over the Country and in Melbourne at one of the better school’s namely Caulfield Grammar School (CGS), they are preparing to take on Haileybury in the first game of the APS Aussie Rules season. The Football Coach for the First 18 for Caulfield Grammar walks into the locker room about two hours before the game commences and has a team meeting with his group of 22 eager players. Caulfield Grammar have a potential number one draft pick, a star midfielder, the Coach seeks him out in front of the whole team at the team meeting. He says to the star midfielder “The Principle of CGS has told me I’m not supposed to let you play today because you have failing Mathematics in Year 12, but we really need you out there on the field to try and beat Haileybury, the reigning Champions and Best team. So what I have to do is ask you a maths question and if you get it right you can play”…..” Do you understand?'” The player agreed and the Coach looked intently into his eyes and then asks, “Okay, now concentrate really hard… what is eight plus nine?” The player thought for a moment and then he answered, “17?” “Did you say 17?” the coach exclaimed, excited that he had it right. At that moment all the other players on the CGS Footy team began screaming, “Come on Coach, give him another chance!”

With the BOB Betting on every Australian Race Meeting (except Tasmania) occasionally the BOB option will disappear for a particular runner, a dash will appear. This because the Maximum liability limit is reached for that horse, however simply put your wager on at the TF or BT and text Tim Cleary (0433-339347) and he will amend your wager for you…….

The Group One Goodwood was first run in 1881 and was granted Group One status in 1980. It was previously a Handicap event hence the renaming from the Goodwood Handicap to The Goodwood. The race generally has capacity fields and this upcoming Saturday 20 runners are expected to compete. In the past few decades two of the all time great sprinters to run and win include Takeover Target (2009), Black Caviar (2012) and Santa Ana Lane (2018). Famous South Australian jockey John Letts holds the record with five wins in the event in 1961, 1972, 1973, 1977 and 1984….
