Paddy and Mick were both laid off, so they went to the unemployment office: When asked his occupation, Paddy answered, “Knicker Stitcher, i sew da elastic onto ladies’ knickers and thongs.” The clerk looked up Knicker Stitcher on his computer and finding it classified as unskilled labour, he gave him £80 a week unemployment pay. Mick was next in and when asked his occupation replied. “Diesel Fitter.” Since a diesel fitter was a skilled job, the clerk gave Mick £160 a week. When Paddy found out he was furious. He stormed back into the office to find out why his friend and co worker was collecting double his pay. The clerk explained…. “Knicker Stitchers are unskilled labour and Diesel Fitters are skilled labour.” “What skill?” Yelled Paddy. ‘I sew da elastic on da knickers and thongs, then Mick puts ’em over his head and says: “Yep, diesel fitter.”

VH2H – Head to Head Betting
VICBET H2H Betting is unique to us and is available every race day and night in two groups of three. It is the three Favourites (1st, 2nd and 3rd) combined in one H2H outcome and the second H2H is the 4th, 5th and 6th Favourites combined, excluding the Fav if it is Odds-on (under $2). This is a moving dynamic market so as the odds change for the actual race the odds will change for the H2H outcome. Also, you can pick your own H2H outcome, then simply go to our Live Chat or WhatsApp Tim Cleary (0433-339347) and he will price it up for you….

The race was first held in 1992 and is named in honour of the former champion racehorse and sire Vain. The Vain Stakes is the first Group race of the new racing season for Colts and Geldings only and most of the time the assembled field is made up of returning stars on their way to bigger races, or fit, in-form winter gallopers testing themselves in stronger grade. The most prominent winners are Haradasun (2006), Starspangledbanner (2009) and Sepoy (2011)…..Now who the race is named after: Vain (1966–1991) was a champion Racehorse that dominated Australian sprint racing in the period 1968–70 when he won 12 of the 14 races he contested and ran close seconds in the other two. Vain was bred and raced by Melbourne brothers Walter, Fred, and George Johnson and was trained by Jim Moloney in the Melbourne suburb of Mordialloc. His normal jockey was Pat Hyland, who rode him to all his wins. As a two-year-old Vain was undefeated in Melbourne in the Spring of 1968 and the Autumn of 1969, winning races such as the VRC Sires Produce. Moving to Sydney, he won the Golden Slipper Stakes by four lengths and the Champagne Stakes by 10 lengths, the latter in the fastest time ever recorded for a two-year-old over six furlongs (1,200 metres). As a three-year-old, Vain won the Caulfield Guineas by three lengths, then campaigned in the VRC Spring Carnival, winning over eight days the Craven ‘A’ Stakes by 12 lengths and the Linlithgow Stakes by six lengths. In his final race, he carried a record 10 lb over weight-for-age (WFA) in winning the 1969 George Adams Handicap. Vain set an Australian prize money records as a two-year-old and three-year-old. His only defeat as a three year old was against the champion New Zealand colt Daryl’s Joy, who also won the W S Cox Plate and Victoria Derby and who later raced successfully in the United States as a stayer including winning at Group one level. Vain sired two Golden Slipper winners and was a leading sire in Australia. He is also the great-great grand-sire of Black Caviar on the dam side….Watch Vain win the 1969 Golden Slipper Stakes – CLICK HERE
Many people think we are one of those Corporate outfits but that is not the case. With an emphasis on the three codes of Horse Racing, Dogs and Trots we are the Old Fashioned type of Bookmakers (four generations going back to 1941). My Late Father Allen Cleary was a Bookmaker from 1956 – 2006, his Uncle Bob was a Bookmaker from 1941 – 1961. Today it is myself Rod and my Son Tim sharing the reins. We are very approachable, we work On Course at the Melbourne Metro Meetings on the Rails, however the vast majority of our turnover is Online. Once again your referrals are always very much appreciated and one of the main sources of us sourcing new Clients so thanks very much in advance…….Feel free to contact us anytime if you have any questions about any Racing/Bookmaking Matters….The best way is Live Chat or call our mobiles…….
