An Irishman Paddy is stumbling through the woods totally drunk, after leaving the Pub trying to find his way home. He then comes upon a preacher baptizing people in the river. He proceeds into the water, subsequently bumping into the preacher. The preacher turns around to him and is overcome by the smell of alcohol, whereupon, he asks the drunk Paddy, “Are you ready to find Jesus?” Paddy shouts, “Yes, I am.”So the preacher grabs him and dunks him in the water. He pulls him back and asks, “Brother, have you found Jesus?” Paddy replies, “No, I haven’t found Jesus!” The preacher, shocked at the answer, dunks him again but for a little longer. He again pulls him out of the water and asks, “Have you found Jesus, brother?” Paddy answers, “No, I haven’t found Jesus!” By this time, the preacher is at his wits end and dunks Paddy again, but this time holds him down for about 30-35 seconds. When he begins kicking his arms and legs all about, he pulls him up. The preacher again asks the very drunk Paddy, “For the love of God, have you found Jesus? “Paddy staggers upright, wipes his eyes, coughs up a bit of water, catches his breath, and says to the preacher, “Are you sure this is where he fell in?”

Some of the stars of the Turf to have won this time-honoured race include Phar Lap (1930), Bernborough (1946), Tulloch (1960 & 1962), Emancipation (1984), Super Impose (1991-92), Octagonal (1997) and Winx (2016-17). Tie the Knot won it four times in consecutive years from 1999-2002. The race has always been run at either Randwick or Warwick Farm. Winx won in 2017 as the $1.22 Fav, there will be no such generous odds this time with $1.08 the early quote for the Superstar……….
